A Blackjack Tournament Betting Strategy For
Winning
Perhaps the most important aspect of
multiplayer blackjack tournament to master is your betting
strategy. You have to have a winning money management system in
place and stick to it.
A successful
betting strategy is important because you're not playing against the
house as in traditional blackjack. You are playing against other
players and you win by having the most chips in the last hand of the
final table. Some successful blackjack tournament professionals play
with an all-or-nothing attitude. It's win or bust in their minds.
That's a useful set of principles but to make it worth you have to
couple that attitude with a betting strategy that is designed to get
you from Point A to B. In other words, you don't want to throw down
all of your chips on the first hand. What if you lose?
Losing on the
first hand is a distinct possibility. It's the most
vulnerable hand for blackjack tournament players because the
odds are against you. You have a full deck, or two, or
three, or six - depending on the rules of that tournament.
You want to reserve the all-or-nothing betting strategy for
when it can be used to your advantage later in the game.
And then, only when it benefits you such as when you are not
the table leader.
A successful betting strategy requires that you keep an eye
on what the other players have in front of them. Don't be
afraid to count chips. It's important to know where you
stand or you'll never maneuver yourself to where you need to
stand - in the lead.
Keep in mind that most multiplayer blackjack tournament are
played with limited rounds.
For instance, you could be playing in a
blackjack tournament that goes six rounds. You have six players at
your table and at the end of each round only the player/s with the
bigger amount of chips proceed to the next round. Your goal should
be to end up with the most amount of chips. In each round, you don't
have to have the most amount of chips until the last hand. So what
is your betting strategy?
You've got to
play somewhat aggressively, but not belligerent. Be consistent.
Dont bet half your chips in one round then the minimum bet the next
round. You'll only draw attention to yourself that way. But don't
bet the minimum in every round either.
A
good rule of thumb in determining your betting strategy is use some
kind of card counting system where your bet is determined by the
odds for or against your favor. If you determine that the odds are
in your favor, raise your bet. If the odds are against you, lower
your bet. This works best if your betting strategy involves a
"medium bet" that is, you set bet during normal circumstances.
Place your medium bet on the first round, then alter it from there.
But don't be predictable. Remember, the other players are watching
you just like you are watching them. In most blackjack tournaments,
you will play with a rotating deal and/or a rotating bet. So at some
point in the game you'll be the first dealt to and the first to bet,
but you'll also be the last. That's when you have the betting
advantage. If you are playing in a tournament that utilizes the
hidden bet, or secret bet, rule then you'll want to reserve your
hidden bet for a point in the game when it will benefit you the most
- preferably toward the end.
Develop your
betting strategy on the rules of the tournament. If you are
eliminated, stick around and watch the other players. That's a great
way to learn and you can pick up strategies that other successful
players use when they play. Good luck, and may the best bettor win. |
